Electrical Controls Designer - COMBUSTION
Job Description
Fives North American Combustion, Inc., a division of Fives Group and a leading manufacturer of combustion control and guiding systems, has an opening in the Controls and Systems Group for an Electrical Controls Designer to help support its growing worldwide business.
Job Responsibilities
- Create control solutions for our engineered combustion system projects. Select control panel components, develop bills of material, create and manage drawings, release drawings and BOMS to manufacturing
- The individual will act as the control solution’s project leader, managing customer requirements, design, software, and manufacturing schedules, and providing technical support to manufacturing personnel and customers as needed
- Project durations are typically 12-16 weeks in length from order date to shipping, with 35-40 projects annually
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or Associate degree in Electrical Engineering or Engineering Technology
- Excellent AutoCAD skills – AutoCAD Electrical preferred
- Thorough understanding of relay-based and PLC-based control circuits including fusing, transformers, timers, conductor sizing, complex relay logic, panel layouts, wiring methods, and control hardware
- Read and develop P&ID drawings
- Travel is typically less than 3 weeks per year
- Strong working knowledge of NFPA 79 and/or UL508A
- Combustion experience is a plus
The ideal candidate will possess strong interpersonal skills and be comfortable working independently. The position requires a motivated, detail-oriented, self-starting individual, who can design hardware control solutions and manage the entire project through assembly, test, and shipment.
